Privacy policy
Last updated October 9, 2026.
The Archaeology Site (www.thearchaeologysite.com) is a free list of archaeology jobs and news. This page explains what information is involved when you visit it.
The short version
- There are no accounts, sign-ups, comments, or forms on this site, so we do not ask you for personal details.
- We do not run analytics or tracking tools of our own, and we set no cookies of our own.
- Some outside services that load on our pages, listed below, can receive technical information from your browser.
Information collected when you visit
Like any website, our web host receives your browser's request for each page. This normally includes your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser and device type. Hosts keep this in server logs for running the service, keeping it secure, and preventing abuse. We do not use it to identify visitors.
The filters on the home page and the News page run in your browser. What you type or choose in them is not sent to us.
Messages you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to correct or improve the site, and we keep it for as long as it is useful for that.
Outside services on our pages
- Google Fonts. Our pages load their typeface from Google. Your browser requests the font file directly from Google, so Google receives your IP address and browser details. See Google's Fonts privacy information.
- Employers and publishers. Job and news links take you to other websites, such as an employer's careers page or a news publisher. Their privacy policies apply once you leave this site, and we do not control them.
Advertising and cookies
This site does not currently show advertisements and sets no cookies. If we start showing ads from Google AdSense or another network, those companies may use cookies to serve ads, and this page will be updated to explain that and how to opt out.
Children
This site is aimed at job seekers and professionals. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California, you may have rights over personal information held about you, such as the right to see it or have it deleted. Because we keep so little, there is usually little to find, but you are welcome to ask. Use the address below.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
